Procountor: sending as your domain

Before you start

Procountor sends invoices, orders, payment reminders, approval notices and group letters by email. Its help pages say invoice emails are always sent from no-reply@procountor.com. Approval notices come from the same address, and so do group letters by default.

Mail from that address has procountor.com in its From address, not example.com. DMARC reports cover mail by its From domain, so this mail is not in the reports sent to your reporting address.

Your own address goes in as the reply address (Reply-To). When a customer replies to an invoice, the reply goes to the first of these that is filled in:

  1. Invoicing contact pers. email, in the Contact persons section of Management > Company info > Basic info.
  2. Email address on the Personal information and settings page of the user who sent the invoice.
  3. no-reply@procountor.com, when both are empty.

About payment reminders. Procountor's pages differ here. Its page on the emails it sends says the sender's address of a payment reminder comes from the same fields, in the same order. Its Basic info page says the invoicing contact's address is the Reply-To of invoices and payment reminders. A reminder whose From address is at example.com is mail sent as example.com, and it shows in your reports. Procountor's pages name no SPF include and no DKIM key for example.com, so nothing in them makes such a reminder pass DMARC.

SPF

Procountor's pages name no SPF include for example.com. Invoices are sent as no-reply@procountor.com, so an entry in the SPF record of example.com has no effect on them.

Check it worked

  1. In Management > Company info > Basic info, Invoicing contact pers. email holds an address at example.com. Procountor also shows this address at the bottom of your invoices.
  2. If reports for example.com show mail identified as Procountor, look at the From address of a payment reminder sent from Procountor. If it is at example.com, ask Procountor how these reminders can pass DMARC for example.com before you move to a stricter policy.
