When does the first report arrive?
On every plan
Usually 24 to 48 hours after you publish the DMARC record, because mailbox providers such as Google and Microsoft send one aggregate report a day. Every admin of the organization gets an email when the first report for the domain arrives.
What happens when it lands
The email names the mailbox provider that sent the report, when the report says so, and links the domain page. From then on, the domain page shows who sends email as your domain and whether it passes DMARC. Before the first report, the Sources page is empty.
Reports keep coming, usually one a day from each mailbox provider. Each one covers the mail that provider received, so the picture fills in over the first days.
While you wait
- Open the domain's DNS tab. It shows what your DMARC, SPF, DKIM and other records say, with a sentence for each finding. We ran the first check when you added the domain, unless you had removed it and added it again within your plan's check interval. If you changed a record since, or no check has run, press Check now there.
- Until the first report lands, the domain's Home tab keeps a checklist of its steps: add the domain, publish the DMARC record, verify the domain, wait for the first report. A step is ticked when it is done.
- If your plan has room for more members, invite the people who should see the reports, under Settings, Members.
- Once the domain is verified, its Alerts page lists the alerts it can send. An admin can turn off any you do not want. Who gets alert email is each member's own choice, under Settings, Notifications.
TLS reports come only after the TLS-RPT record is published, and only from the mailbox providers that send them.
Nothing after 72 hours
If no report has arrived 72 hours after you published the record, check two things:
- The DMARC record is published. The domain's DNS tab shows the record we found.
- Its
ruanames your reporting address, spelled exactly as on the domain's Records tab.
No DMARC reports are arriving covers the other causes.
Once reports come in, read your first week with the domain page.
