Invite members and change roles

From Pro up

An admin invites a colleague by email under Settings, Members. We send them a link that works for 7 days, and they join when they open it with the address you invited.

Invite someone

  1. Open Settings, then Members. Only admins see the invite form.
  2. Enter the person's email address and choose a role.
  3. Select Send invitation.

We email them a link. It works for 7 days, and only for the address you invited. If they have no account yet, they create one with that address and join once they confirm it. If they already have an account, they sign in and join.

Until they accept, the invitation is listed under open invitations, with the time its link stops working. To take it back, select Withdraw. The link stops working at once. Inviting the same address again replaces the open invitation with a new link.

How many members fit

The plan sets how many members the organization can have:

  • Starter: 1 member
  • Pro: 3 members
  • Teams: 15 members
  • Enterprise: no limit

You count as one of them. Every open invitation holds a place too, until it is accepted, withdrawn or expires. When the plan is full, the invite form is replaced by a sentence that says so.

If the plan has shrunk by the time someone opens their link, they cannot join yet. Their invitation stays open until the link expires, in case the plan has room again.

Change a role

There are two roles, viewer and admin. Both see every domain's overview, sources, reports, records, DNS checks and alerts. Both can run a DNS check with Check now, export a domain's reports, set their own email preferences, and connect an app to read the organization over MCP, from Teams up.

Only an admin can:

  • add and remove domains, publish records and connect Cloudflare;
  • name sources, and change the readiness rule and alert rules;
  • set up shared alert channels and summaries to outside addresses;
  • invite people, change roles and remove members;
  • set up relays and share links;
  • create API tokens and webhooks under Developer;
  • open Plan and billing, Data and privacy, Organization and Cloudflare.

To change someone's role, choose the new role beside their address and select Change role. The change takes effect at once.

An organization always keeps at least one admin. If you are the only admin and want to change your own role, make someone else an admin first.

Remove someone, or leave

To remove a member, select Remove on their row. They lose access at once, and you can invite them again later.

To leave an organization yourself, select Leave on your own row. You lose access at once, and an admin can invite you back.

The last admin can neither be removed nor leave. Make someone else an admin first. Leaving, or being removed, ends access to that one organization. Your account and your other organizations stay as they are.
