Forward every report to another address
From Teams up
The relay sends every new aggregate report and TLS report for a domain on to a second email address, one email per report with the report file attached. It helps while you move to or from another DMARC tool, or when a parser of your own needs the files. An admin sets it on the domain's Sharing page, and nothing is forwarded until the recipient confirms.
Which plans include it
The plan sets how many domains can have a relay:
- Starter: none
- Pro: none
- Teams: 10 domains
- Enterprise: every domain
Each domain has one relay address. A subdomain has no relay of its own: its reports go out through its main domain's relay.
Set it up
- Open the domain, then Sharing. Only admins see this page.
- On the Relay card, enter the address to forward to and select Send confirmation link. An address at rep.mailmoni.com is refused, because that is where we receive reports.
- We email that address a link that works for 7 days. The person who opens it confirms on the page with Confirm forwarding. Opening the link alone confirms nothing, so a mail scanner that opens every link cannot turn the relay on.
- Forwarding starts with the reports that arrive after the confirmation. Reports already stored are not sent. To hand those over too, export them.
If the link expires before anyone confirms, send it again from the card.
What each email holds
- One report: an aggregate report or a TLS report. Forensic reports are never forwarded.
- The report file, gzipped and named the way RFC 7489 names aggregate report files and RFC 8460 names TLS report files:
reporter!domain!begin!end.xml.gz, orreporter!domain!begin!end!report-id.json.gzfor a TLS report. The begin and end are Unix timestamps. - A short text in the organization's default language, saying who sent the report, when we received it and the report's ID.
The email comes from Mailmoni <relay@mailmoni.com> and carries the header Auto-Submitted: auto-generated.
A report over 10 MiB once gzipped is not forwarded. The Relay card lists the latest ones skipped, so you can download them from the report's own page.
Check that it works
The Relay card shows whether the relay is on, when the last report went out, how many went out in the last 30 days, and the last error, if there was one.
When it pauses
We stop forwarding, and email every admin, when:
- the recipient's mail server refuses a forwarded report for good, or
- 5 forwarded reports in a row cannot be sent.
The card shows the last error. To start again, select Send confirmation link and have the recipient confirm again. Reports that arrived while the relay was paused are not sent later.
Change the address, or turn it off
- Sending a link to a new address stops forwarding until the new address confirms.
- Turn off stops forwarding at once. Reports already forwarded stay where they are.
If the plan changes
On a plan without the relay, forwarding pauses and the address is kept. It works again from Teams up. Reports that arrive in the meantime are not forwarded later.
If the new plan has fewer relays than you have switched on, the ones confirmed first keep working, and the rest pause. Turning one off lets the next one resume.
