Stop or restart alert and summary emails
On every plan
Each member decides, for each organization, whether to get alert emails and a summary. To stop one, use the link at the end of the email. To start it again, or to change both, go to Settings → Notifications and look under Your email.
What you get at first
Admins start with alert emails on. Members who are not admins start with them off. On plans with summaries, from Pro up, every member starts on the weekly summary.
Stop an email from the email itself
Every alert email ends with Stop alert emails, and every summary with Stop these summaries. The link opens a page with a Stop these emails button. Opening the page changes nothing, so a mail scanner that follows links does not unsubscribe you. The button stops that kind of email from that organization.
The unsubscribe button your mail app shows beside our emails works too, in one step. The link needs no sign-in, and it keeps working in an old email.
Stopping alert emails does not stop the alerts. The Alerts page still lists every alert.
Start again
On Settings → Notifications, under Your email:
- Tick Email me alerts to get alert emails again.
- Choose a schedule in Email me a summary to get summaries again.
- Save.
Every alert email and summary also links to this page with Change what we email you.
How many alert emails you get
When an alert opens, we wait 10 minutes so that alerts that happen together arrive in one email. After that, your plan sets the shortest gap between two alert emails to you:
- Starter: one alert email a week
- Pro: one alert email a day
- Teams: one alert email an hour
- Enterprise: one alert email an hour
Alerts that open in the gap wait, and come together in the next email.
Shared channels are separate
Your email choices do not change what goes to a shared channel, such as Slack. An admin turns a channel off with Turn off under Shared channels on the same page.
