Change the card you pay with
On every plan
An admin changes the card under Settings › Plan and billing. Mollie asks for the new card on its own page and takes no money. Once Mollie confirms the card, every later payment is charged to it, and the old card can no longer be charged.
Change it
- Open Settings › Plan and billing.
- In Card and billing details, select Change card. The next page names the card the payments are charged to now.
- Select Change card on that page. Mollie's page opens.
- Give the new card there. Mollie charges nothing, and we never see the card number.
- Mollie brings you back.
The button is there while your organization pays for its plan by card. A plan our staff granted has no card to change.
While Mollie confirms
Back from Mollie's page, you see that Mollie is confirming the new card. The page changes when Mollie answers, and Plan and billing then says the card is changed and names it. If the page stops waiting before Mollie answers, Plan and billing shows the new card once Mollie confirms it.
If the change does not go through, nothing is charged, and the payments stay on the card you had. Try again takes you back to the card page.
A card change has no invoice, because nothing is charged.
When the new card takes over
From the moment Mollie confirms it. The next renewal, and the next attempt at a failed payment, are charged to the new card. We revoke the old card at Mollie, so nothing can charge it again. Plan and billing shows the new card and the day it expires.
While a payment is failing
When a payment has failed, Change card is in the box about the failed payment, next to Pay now. Changing the card there charges nothing now, and the next attempt is charged to the new card. Pay now pays the failed amount at once instead, and the card you pay with becomes the card for later payments. When a card payment fails explains both.
Before the card expires
When the card expires before the next payment, and that payment is 14 days away or less, every admin gets one email that says so, with a link to change the card. Change it before the payment, or the payment fails. A cancelled plan does not renew, so it gets no such email.
